History
in the summer of 2020, a series of leaks for Mountain Dew flavors releasing that year and the next had happened. Among the leaks was the initial lineup of Mountain Dew Energy (then known as Rise Energy.) The initial lineup was released on March 2021, as a part of the Conquer the Morning promotion and was also promoted by LeBron James.”
In November 2021, the flavor line’s name was changed, dropping the word “Rise”, following a lawsuit with coffee company Rise Brewing. Also in late 2021, Mountain Dew Energy (Cherry Lime Lift) was announced, with a release date of January 10, 2022. Mountain Dew Energy Drink
around the same time Cherry Lime Lift was. Announced, Energy (Dragonfruit Charge) was leaked, with a planned release date of June/July 2022.
In December 2021, Berry Blitz was discontinued to make way for Energy (Cherry Lime Lift), making Berry Blitz the first flavor of the Energy lineup to be discontinued.
On January 10, 2022, the first new flavor of the Energy lineup, Cherry Lime Lift, was released. It was originally going to be promoted by LeBron James, although this was scrapped.
In March 7, 2022, a Reddit post leaked a supposed flavor of Mountain Dew Energy, known as Energy (Baja Blast), an Energy counterpart of the original Baja Blast. The post also states that it will release in June/July 2022. The post was initially met with wide skepticism, due to the photo looking fake. It was later proven true by a PepsiCo employee and the source was proven legitimate.
